TECTRA is recruiting, on behalf of one of its clients operating in the engineering and industrial & energy technical solutions sector, an Accountant (M/F) based in Dakar.
Missions Principales :
Accountant contributes to maintaining the organization's financial accuracy and integrity by performing a wide range of daily and periodic accounting and financial tasks. Their role focuses on ensuring the accuracy of financial records, compliance with established policies, and contributing to the timely preparation of financial reports.
- Petty Cash Management: Handle daily petty cash operations, manage and pay workshop expenses, and audit all vendor bills after completing the approval process.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate financial records, including general ledgers, journals, and accounts payable/receivable, ensuring proper filing and matching to box files
- Transaction Processing: Record financial transactions accurately, ensuring correct classification for payables and receivables
- Purchase Cycle Management: Monitor and follow up on the financial aspects of the purchasing process
- Inventory Monitoring: Ensure all items are properly delivered and recorded in the ERP system
- Bank Reconciliation: Verify that all transfers to and from bank accounts are correctly recorded in the ERP system.
- Compliance: Monitor accounts to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and accounting standards.

- Sales Reporting: Prepare and submit weekly sales reports
- Customer Credit Follow-up: Monitor receivables for both workshop and car customers’ invoices
- Monthly Closing: Support the monthly closing process in the ERP system
- Processing and recording periodic payroll (Payroll) accurately, ensuring all entitlements, deductions, and contributions are calculated in accordance with approved laws, regulations, and internal policies, and posting the associated accounting entries to the system.
- Reviewing, verifying, and processing employee expense reports, ensuring they comply with internal policies and are supported by proper receipts and documentation, before approving and posting them in the accounting system.
- Preparing and posting monthly adjusting journal entries (Adjusting Entries) for accrued expenses, prepaid expenses, and depreciation accounts, to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the financial position before the month-end closing process.
- Reconciling subsidiary ledger accounts (Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable) with the General Ledger on a regular basis, investigating and resolving any discrepancies or differences between the sub-ledgers and the main control accounts.
- Preparing the Trial Balance on a monthly and periodic basis, verifying that all debit and credit balances are matched and balanced, and ensuring it is free of errors before proceeding with the preparation of final financial reports.
- Preparing the core financial statements comprehensively and periodically, including the Balance Sheet (Statement of Financial Position), Income Statement (Profit & Loss), and Cash Flow Statement, to present an accurate view of the organization's financial position and operational performance.
- Tracking, monitoring, and managing the company's fixed assets, calculating monthly and annual depreciation in accordance with approved accounting policies and standards (such as GAAP or IFRS), and maintaining an up-to-date Asset Register that includes all purchase, disposal, transfer, and depreciation records.
- Assisting in the preparation of annual budgets by collecting, analyzing, and consolidating historical financial data and operational trends, and presenting the findings to the finance manager or directors to support strategic planning and future decision-making
- Policies & Procedures: Comply with the implementation of departmental policies and procedures, to ensure that all relevant procedural and legislative requirements are fulfilled
- Health, Safety & Quality: Comply with all relevant health, safety, and quality requirements in order to guarantee employee safety and legislative compliance.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account ‘best leading practices’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction, and productivity improvement.
Compétences
Educational & Professional Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience: 2 to 4 years of practical experience in the accounting field.
- Excellent command of Microsoft Excel (Formulas, Filtering, Pivot Tables, Vlookup).
- Practical experience using an Accounting ERP system.
- Practical knowledge of basic accounting standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Knowledge of local tax legislation and laws.
- Must be fluent in both English and French
